Upcoming Walks and Events in Sheffield

We organise midweek walks, Sunday walks and the occasional Saturday walk. These all vary in length, and a list of our upcoming walks can be found below:

Thursday 23rd February

Tinsley Round - Evening Walk

Description
This is an easy 5 mile walk which is flat. It Starts at Meadowhall Interchange car park, follows the canal for a while and then loops back onto the 5 weirs, taking a slight diversion to visit the Crown Inn before returning to the Interchange.

Parking: Free car park

Public transport: Trains & buses to Meadowhall

Additional information:

Anyone who is able to offer lifts, that would be greatly appreciated.

Important:

Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk. This walk may be amended if there is snow or ice.

Wentworth Castle

 
Description

This is a 6.5-7 mile walk and wil take us roughly 3 hours. The route is lovely and takes us along the Dove Valley Trail to wentworth Castle, through Broom Royd Wood and by Worsborough Reservoir back to the start.The terrain is mainly flat, a disused railway line, and woodland footpaths. There is a cafe and toilets at Wentworth Castle.

Start time: 1:10 pm

As most walkers will be attending a course to aid the group at Northern College this is an afternoon walk to tie in with the end of the course, to allow all those at college the chance to attend.

Meeting point: Car Park near Wigfield Farm

Parking: Car Park near Wigfield Farm. From M1 junction 36, follow the A61 towards Barnsley for about 2 miles, past the Button Mill Pub on the right. Look out for the Ship Inn directly infront, then take the left fork and turn immediately left into Haverlands Lane. wigfield Farm is 200 metres along the lane.

Public Transport: Local buses 265 from Sheffield to Button Mill, then leaving a short walk to the car park.

Holidays & Weekends

New Holiday Information Added!!

As well as our various regular socials, we also arrange holidays and weekends away. Unfortunately these are limited to regular members of the Shamblers only, as places are usually limited and fill up very quickly.

So far the group have had weekends in Filey, Snowdon to main holidays such as All Inclusive in Turkey and Tunisia
